Holiday Treat

MidSummer's Day is a public holiday herein Barcelona, San Juan, and very welcome. We didn’t get out for more than half an hour but have had a relaxing day with some nice smoked salmon prepared by Dd.

The STAR of this shot is the classic cork screw, so fantastically and expertly manipulated in Parisian bistros. I've been serving my apprenticeship after our ‘drowning man' corkscrew broke. There is so much intelligent design in this classic . . . I only discovered the little serrated blade to cut through the top of bottle foil a few days ago. When you do it all including the foil cut, the corkscrew plunge and the rapid two-stage pull, it's a like a perfectly choreographed dance. Part of the restaurant dining experience that no robot waiter could ever replicate in the new norm!
