Wild Wednesday ...

.... swallowtail number seven and friends.

The seventh and final Eastern Black Swallowtail emerged today ... another female.  We were so thrilled to have 100% success rate on the seven swallowtail chrysalids that we overwintered in a butterfly enclosure kept in our back room since September 2019!  As you can see by the picture in my collage and the extra we were lucky today in getting some pictures of her outside the enclosure! When she was ready to fly we sent her on her way in the memory of another blipper lost this past April.

Now that all the swallowtails have flown the coop it's time to concentrate on the Monarchs.  We have only seen two so far in our yard but they were both females ... and both deposited eggs on our milkweed.
