Greater Flamingo chick!

Got a call at 09:36 from the Head of Birdland. There are now 2 Great Flamingo Chicks! This is big news. First time in around 8 years. Grabbed the kit and off I ran. Got there in time to beat the  public. Images captured, edited and sent to their agency ready for press releases. Many members of the public struggled to see the chicks, they were not that easy to spot with the naked eye and even less chance when the mums were sitting on them! There was still high excitement in the park though.

The working theory is that the exceptional weather during April and May really helped with the process combined with the fact that Birdland imported proven breeders from Slimbridge two years ago and they are much more settled now.
