Xerochrysum bracteatum

Also and probably better known as Strawflower.
D. bought us a strawflower plant. And I noticed something I never realised. The bloom, when getting older, turns around. At least that's what it looks like. But in reality in the beginning the central disc, consisting of numerous tiny flowers. What looks like petals are bracts that curl over and cover the central disc. Over time they bend back and get even dryer than normal, giving them this straw appearance.
The "bloom" in the middle is young, whereas the ones at the left and the right are older. Here you can see the disc clearly.
