Machair colour

Not usually being here in summer, we hadn't appreicated what everyone was talking about when they talked of the wild flowers on the machair - the sandy strip here betwen the shore and the peat.
A short stroll on it today gave us an indication, although to me it weas the smell of the wild flowers that was even more impressive.
We had also not appreciated the pleasures of the highland midge as much in the past. With the wind dropping out, an ideal chnace for the hammock I thought. Five minues later I was inside, scratching.
Not unusually the wind got back up and so I was able to return to the luxury of it in the evening.
