George Davis

George Davis was, for a time, the attorney general of the United States Confederacy.  This is the base of his monument, found on Market Street in Wilmington, North Carolina, his home.  George was removed by the city government on Thursday evening.  They say it is temporarily removed.  No one knows what that means.  I'm hoping it is permanent.  I think it should be replaced with a Wilmington native who has made a positive contribution to our country.  Those coming to mind include NBA star, Michael Jordon, newsman David Brinkley, jazz bassist Percy Heath (Modern Jazz Quartet), artist Minnie Evans and artist Claude Howell.
