Emergence

Some work in the garden today and carrying out a little bit of pond maintenance when I spotted this dragon fly (a southern hawker?) emerging from its nymph state late in the afternoon.  From the first emergence to this state took about 30 minutes and the wind was blowing it around quite a bit,  a few minutes after this image was taken, the wind blew both the exuvia and the dragonfly back into the pond.  I attempted a rescue and left the dragon fly to dry out on the bank so hopefully it will have survived.
