Independence?

On this day in 1997, Hong Kong gained independence from the UK and transferred sovereignty to the People’s Republic of China. Not so sure it was the right answer for them, at least according to the reports in the news today about the new leigislation coming into force concerning the "anti-protest" laws.
Anyway, it reminded me of one of my favourite stamps I have in my collection, so I had a play around with the little magnifying glass and made it into my blip today.
I do wish them all the best over there, sometimes it’s good to be reminded how lucky we are in the west, in many respects.
