IMMATURE BALDY

Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) juveniles are starting to take their first flying lessons. Interestingly, eagles, like all birds, solo on their first flight, unlike humans who have instructors by their side for the first few flights.

It must be an amazing feeling for a bird to fly...akin to a high school kid getting to drive solo for the first time. WOW! What a feeling of independence. Free from the nest, at last, yet still dependent on the adults for food. It's much the same for humans and most other critters. Fishing lessons come next. Just like my daddy taught me. Time to learn to feed yourself.
