Out of the Darkness

RIP Dad

Graham “Bunny” Lewis 21.1.1932 – 30.6.2020

Dad slipped peacefully away this morning surrounded by his family, the strength he showed in the final weeks of his life was truly amazing.

I would like to pay tribute to Dad’s carer Saddat who cared for him wonderfully at home for 3 months.  My sister Gill & brother Neil also lived at Chrisyllian during Dad’s last days & I will be forever grateful for their dedication & love while also supporting Mum.

Dad left School aged 14 in 1946 and commenced a tailoring apprenticeship followed by 2 years national service based in Germany, he then worked as a regimental tailor in Oswestry & Shrewsbury barracks.

In 1954 he was involved in a motor cycle accident while travelling to Norton barracks near Worcester, he suffered a fractured spine and spent 12 months in plaster recovering.

After his accident he worked a Shrewsbury's Sentinel works as a trainee engineering machinist, & later Rolls Royce in Shrewsbury.

His last working years were spent working at Oakley's in Shrewsbury & AV Birch in Bridgnorth, a grand total of 51 years!

Dad has 9 grandsons & 1 granddaughter.

My sons thoroughly enjoyed listening to stories from his lifetime.

After his retirement in 1997 he has enjoyed photography, jigsaws, matchstick models and learned to use a computer.

Thank you for everything Dad.
