Making plans

My WI is 50 years old this month. The Women’s Institute as a whole is more than 100 years old, so we are relative newcomers. We had plans to celebrate the anniversary with a party, but there is no way this can be possible because of the wretched virus. It seems that quite a number of our members are still shielding and any sort of party is out of the question.
I was the first president of this WI, all those years ago, and vividly remember those early days. We were immediately a successful WI with membership reaching 100 within three months. I have been very involved in the intervening years, both in this WI and in the wider WI movement.
I was determined not to let the anniversary slip by, so today I have contacted those intervening presidents who are still around and asked them to Zoom on the day that would have been our birthday meeting. Then hopefully later in the year, we will go out for a pub lunch together. Replies are coming in and they all think it will be great to have a chat and remember what good times we have had over the years. The current committee seem pleased we are doing something, but they are not invited!
