Cast swarm

A walk with eco mum and the dogs round the local park.

Out to help a fellow beekeeper set up a new apiary. Cracking site.

Home checked local apiary after the bee robbing last night. All calm.

Lunch and some painting.

Headed to out apiary. Was starting the inspection when I spotted a swarm. Every year they go to the same spot. Back to car to get some stuff and laird came up and said what about the one above your head. 2 cast swarms as I had left the queen cells for the bees to decide. Anarchy.

First swarm high up tree collected into skep after cutting the branch. Lowered into nuc box. Found the virgin queen she was having none of the stay in the nuc. Caged her and put her back in.

The one in the picture next. Hive underneath and open bottomed nuc on top. Lifted nuc and got bees into hive and just continued gently get the rest in the hive. Place hive at new spit and the bees slowly found it.

Laird fed me. Very late home.
