An early start for our journey down to Kent, where we experienced a day of sunshine, clouds and very strong winds on our exposed survey site. I was mostly acting as driver, so after doing a bit of invertebrate sampling, I spent much of the afternoon hunkered down in the grass reading a book.

Although the traffic has definitely built up a lot since we started visiting in early May, the journeys were fairly uneventful and it was good to finally be driving my own car again, now fully repaired. We got back to Peterborough about 8.15 p.m., and very much appreciated the delicious chilli-con-carne that Sarah and Ben had prepared for dinner.
