Mermaid

This bronze statue was commissioned by the Rotary Club and was named Nerissa by the sculptor Thomas Richard McPhee. It was completed in April 2001 and overlooks Ganges harbour. The inscription the base reads "Service Above Self”, the motto of the Rotary Club.   The significance of the sea astrolobe in the mermaid’s right hand is unknown.
