Red Gate

There was controversy when the landowner began work to "improve" the  Red Road up to Red Gate in the Pentlands.  This was a very rough path which I enjoyed riding BECAUSE it was rough and technical.  As an extra to what has become my usual cycling route (entirely road - avoiding the congested footpaths) I went up this way to see how it was faring.  I expected a lot of wash out but I guess I underestimated how well it was made.  I have to confess it was fun to zoom back down!

My bike computer said I hit 46mph on Beech Avenue but GPS says 68kph - whatever - it was a thrill!    I'm now looking forward to a bigger ride in the hills - like what I used to do!
