Heritage

The date inscribed on the stone here is 1869, and it records the construction of this Station House (and nearby station) at Bowenfels around the time of the railway reaching Lithgow and beyond. The extra shows detail under the roof below which passengers waited for the next train.
Both buildings have been beautifully restored, and their design and original stonework is impressive. We asked ourselves: how could we possibly have driven past this spot so many times and ignored such a great piece of history??
