Poorhouse Wood

Here we found the great spread of twin flower, Linnaea borealis, growing in a fragrant carpet under the pines. The delicate flowers are starting to go over but I was so pleased to be able to see them again at last. They could so easily have been one of the treasures missed this year.

Further into the wood there is a small patch of wintergreen. Here and there a few late stars of quite unrelated chickweed wintergreen and many clumps of cow-wheat.
