Dream Coming True

About seven years ago, we had a family holiday in a remote area of southern Spain. One day we went to a restaurant in the middle of nowhere where we sat on a patio, shaded by grape vines. They only did roast lamb, but heck, what roast lamb! At the end of the superb meal, the owner reached up to the grapes hanging above us and cut off a couple of huge bunches for our (complimentary) dessert. I have never forgotten it, and dreamed of doing it for my guests. Well, we're not quite there yet, but we're on the way - if the birds will leave us some. We planted four vines of eating grapes, two green and two purple. One of the purple ones never got going, and the magpies obviously prefer the purple one left, but we have some (still quite sour) green ones. Now, next year, if we're here to water them properly...

Gratefuls:
- Julia getting her Band 6 midwifery - well done, love!
- getting something done that I've been putting off ever since we got here
- Mike's bread, the last bit of English extra strong cheddar, and some Terra Lenta red, sitting outside in the warm darkness; if we turn the light on, the bugs arrive
