A’ Mharconaich

It was a special day today; after 106 days of not having been up a decent-sized hill the weather forecast suggested a half-decent day, so we went up a Munro. We have spent lockdown going through our records of hill days to ensure we’ve actually been up what we thought we had. We have 3 discrepancies, one where S hasn’t been, one where we’re not sure we’ve been and one where I hadn’t seen the view. Today we drove to Drumochter to go up the hill I’ve not seen the view from, as it’s close enough for a day trip and that is all we’re allowed to do so far. It was definitely not summery but it was bright and the cloud was above the tops so the views were excellent. The blip is looking over Drumochter Pass to A’ Mharconaich from a wee pool on Creagan Doire Dhonaich on our way up the deleted Munro top of Meall a’ Chaorainn on A’ Bhuidheanach Bheag. This year the snow has been slow to melt and there are hundreds of patches still left in the Highlands. On our way down we came upon a patch in a burn on A’ Bhuidheanach Mhòr that has now formed a tunnel and the first extra is a view through it. The second extra is a view up the Allt Coire Chùirn as the sun came out.

Yesterday’s blip.
