The thermal wonderland

This morning we were awake early again, so we got up and had breakfast and then we headed to 'Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland' which had a geyser and then lots of natural springs in all different colours. It was very pretty, but very smelly! There is a lot of sulphur there which makes it smell a bit like rotten eggs. We happened to have some tic tacs in our backpack which we had from Sam's Gran for Christmas with some other bits. So we will have to thank her for those when we get home. They made a huge difference and stopped us feeling sick.
After we had finished there we headed down towards Lake Taupo, we stopped at a rest stop for lunch and then went to find the campsite. We stopped there for a while and swam in the river- it was lovely but very cold. Then we went into Taupo to explore and get some information. When we came back and parked up we met another English couple doing the same sort of thing as us. So we talked to them for a long time and then all sat and ate dinner together. It was really lovely- but by the time we got up again it was dark and so washing up and making our bed was a little interesting!
