End of a tree

We had a tree in our garden that already caused fear at our neighbours. They thought it would fall on their house and damage it. Several years ago they already asked the local fire brigade to cut another tree for the same reason (during our absence, of course :().
Because this time we could agree that this tree had reached its end, we decided to ask our son M to help with cutting it. The tree was at least 12 metres, close to the neighbour house, close to the street next to our property, and in the middle of other trees, so it was a challenge.

M. cut many branches up halfway of the tree. Then he attached a rope to the tree and gave me one end. I was standing far enough so I wouldn't get the tree on my head.
M. then started to cut the tree in two pieces with the chainsaw. Before it was through, we bent the tree towards our garden, so it would not fall the wrong direction. Then some more cutting and then the last part was just pulling the rope.

The tree did hardly damage the surrounding trees, nor did it fall greatly on the street (we checked before that nobody was there). So all in all a success. Neighbours happy, we have more light in the garden, and we don't have to worry about any insurance claims.

Thanks to M. for being a big help as our family lumberjack
