She made me do it!

A beautiful day for our last one in Wanaka. We decided we had to climb Mt Iron. You will be familiar with this, as Tussock is often there and has been blipped at the top on several occasions. On the way up there were only a few people and we has the summit to ourselves. Fantastic views of Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea with the hills and mountains around. Just wonderful. By the time we were coming down, there were many more people climbing up and down. Lots of children, with it being a holiday.

The view from the top was to be my blip.

However . . .

. . . in the afternoon I had an ice-cream date with Cycling Granny. This is all explained here. Prior to this, we had been to her house and looked through all the wonderful books she has made and admired the views she has from her windows. Then she made me go down to blip the tree in the lake. She said that no one should leave Wanaka without photographing this. So I did.

In the end I compromised and you have here the iconic tree in the lake, but in the background there is Mt Iron - the one we climbed in the morning.

We leave Wanaka in the morning and set off up the West Coast to Fox Glacier.
