South Norwood lakes

Only 1 lake though so not lakes! This man made lake was created in 1800's as a reservoir for a canal between Croydon and the Thames at Deptford 9 miles in length. The canal was unsuccessful, bought out by a railway company in 1836, drained and replaced by train lines! This lake survived, a second in Sydenham didn't.

I walked around the lake today with Eileen and Mike who also provided a nice lunch and great company :-) Eileen and Mike live almost under the Crystal Palace TV mast in the extra.
