Robin's pincushion

Also called Rose bedeguar gall or mossy rose gall is found on wild roses and is called by the larvae of the gall wasp.  Each gall holds lots of grubs that will emerge in spring to begin the life cycle again.  The pink background is a bank of rose bay willow herb.

We went to Llanymynech Rocks this morning for a walk in the sunshine.  There were lots of butterflies and hawker dragonflies around when we set off but as the wind increased the sightings decreased.

Nights are not good at the moment.  The A5 is being resurfaced overnight and unfortunately the traffic is being rediredted through the village.  My house is close to the road (which carries very little nighttime traffic normally) but now cars and big lorries rumble past through the night.  I expect people that live by busy roads get used to the noise but I'll be glad when the work is done!
