Last of the Light

Both of us spent most of the day sorting and clearing and chucking and rearranging and mending and cleaning. The temperature went up to 40°C at 5pm, and we're having to be very sparing with the air con - we had run the batteries out.

I did about half the grouting on the border I made the other day - the only tool that seemed to get into all the grooves was my forefinger, and ended up scraping the skin off, so painful, and really hampers my typing; comments will be sparing. Lesson learnt. Hopefully.

Gratefuls:
- getting through a lot of chaos; it keeps getting piled up in one place and then moved to another, as work needs doing there, and so on, and on, and on. Or visitors arrive and need clear space. Not ideal to live on a building site, really.
- the prospect of a shower and bed (and that Julia and Tom slept well for the first time in "our" refurbished attic in Sutton)
- sitting outside, eating Mike's freshly baked bread, with cheese, tomato and basil, and a cool breeze blowing
