Memento Mori

He had mixed feelings about the opening. It had been flattering to have been asked to model for the sculpture - the result was undeniably beautiful. And, he supposed, the statue would grant him some measure of immortality. Captured in his physical prime. But would this Unchanging record of his youth and health taunt him as he aged - acting as a constant Memento Mori - a nagging reminder of his corporeal body’s inevitable decline?

And he couldn’t help but wish that the Great Artist’s studio had been less cold.
