Down the hill

KESR started running again today. A very limited service, one train made two round trips - passengers had to pre-book, and only passengers allowed on Tenterden station, no platform tickets. I decided to go to Cranbrook Road and catch the 13:15 as it crossed the level crossing and ran down the hill towards Rolvenden. The weather was tremendous and I arrived early enough to enjoy the scenery, and I even saw a hobby flying over the fields. Then the train arrived. The engine is running backwards because they can't turn engines around. Doing it this way means that on the return trip the engine is facing up the hill into Tenterden station and the water in the boiler drains back towards the fire rather than running away from it.

Then I went for a bit of a drive around - down to Rye and then along Military Road to Appledore and up through Woodchurch to Tenterden and then home.
