Spotted

How wonderful to see these adorable, one day old Spotted Sandpiper chicks!  It is hard to believe that at only a day old, they are so independent, searching for food on their own and doing the characteristic little "bum bob".  So funny when one little one tried to preen and kept rolling over. I think those feet are far too big for the body yet  ;)

In extras, is mama who was trying to shelter them under her wings, but they clearly had other ideas!  She finally gave up and went off to gather food of her own.
