Visited Glasgow-based Clyde Space, who have almost completed the design and build of Scotland's first satellite - a nanosatellite (pictured) that will carry several small payloads to conduct experiments in space after being launched from a Russian Soyuz-2 rocket later this year.
The First Minister - a well-known Trekkie - was accompanied by Sergey Krutikov, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Scotland (2nd left) and Lena Wilson, CEO of Scottish Enterprise who have supported Clyde Space's growth over several years.
