RIP Ton-up Thomas 1932-2020

Finally said goodbye to dad today. It's seemed like the longest 3 weeks ever.

The service was lovely. The sun shone, the celebrant and my nephew both spoke beautifully and with humour, we were allowed to have the peace cranes on top of the coffin (that was in doubt at first because of covid-19), and the music was perfect. We chose Schumann's Piano Concerto in A Minor - 1st movement to open with (my dad's all-time favourite and which he only re-discovered in recent years), Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A Major - 2nd movement for the reflection (another of his favourites and which has to be one of the most beautiful and moving pieces ever written) and Leaning on a Lamp-post by George Formby to finish (we wanted to end the service with a song to sum up my dad's sense of humour).

We had a fitting send off up at the "Top Red" in Grenoside afterwards. The weather was beautiful so we were all able to sit outside.
