Early Risers

Took advantage of a lovely morning with a walk on the coast. We arrived in Ravenscar by 8:30 and headed onto the Cleveland Way coastal path towards Staithes.

A gentle breeze kept the temperature down and made for pleasant walking. Made a detour down to Port Mulgrave which is like no other place I have visited. Once upon a time a road served this part of the coast but land slips over the years destroyed it. Now the only way in is by sea or a steep path. Since we were last here a new path with steel stairs has been constructed. We chatted to a chap. Just love the way beech combing has provided the materials for these cabins and are added to over a period of time.

We arrived in Staithes just as it was beginning to fill with visitors (see extra). We did not linger and climbed up the hill to return to Ravenscar by a delightful wooded walk.

We were on the way home just after mid day. Amazed at the number of cars still nose to tail travelling towards Whitby.
