American Paratroopers in Normandy

I may have posted this a few years back when I visited Normandy & the Beaches.
But I recently pulled the picture for a discussion of patriotism and freedom with friends.
A tiny little town on the outskirts ‘church-sheltered’ Amer medics and their French underground soldiers. It actually became a blessing, when the Germans learned that the medics were there. The Germans declared the church ‘hospital’ a protected area. All guns & ammunition must stay outside but any injured, on any side, were welcome for medical treatment. Blood stains are still visible on the wooden pews.
The locals erected this paratrooper stained glass window in honor of their American friends. We not only treated their injured but protected their little town.
It an extremely poignant forever tribute.
