Our Daily Walk

Well, it's almost our daily walk, down to the lake, at least three times-a-week. Today it has turned very damp and although it's cloudy it is still warm, around 23°C. Not weather to be energetic in.
The farmer had mowed the grass over a huge area and was now turning it over with one of those many implements you can put behind your tractor.
As we walked we noticed that the farmer had left a verge along the edge of the field, between a 1 and 2 metres wide. There were so many flowers and plants growing in that verge, and since it runs all along the track until you reach the forest it must make for a rich environment.
I'm not always entirely positive about the farmer (who removes the beaver dams) so it feels important to give him his due credit here.
Our guests had headed north to the High Coast again, having decided to stay an extra day. When they got back they barbecued again and then joined us for some wine and chocolate and chat.
The extra shows another small tortoiseshell butterfly, which allowed me to get a lot closer than on Saturday, but I can see it has lived a bit more than that one!  Still feasting on the oregano, sharing with many other similar butterflies, and the bees. The latter give us the soundtrack, with a varying but ongoing buzz all day.
