National Lamington Day

As I was getting up this morning I heard on the radio that it was National Lamington Day and that there would be 400 lamingtons given away at Old Government House in Brisbane to celebrate.

Apparently, the lamington was invented by chef Armand Gallan at Government House, during the residency of Lord Lamington, Governor of Queensland from 1896 to 1901.

Just in time! The lamingtons you see in the photo were the last of the 400! There was also free barista-made coffee too.
