Lonely Beach

Not a cloud in the sky, not a bird in sight as far as the eye could see.
There were no voices to be carried in the wind, just a quiet rustling of the trees. Drifts of sand swirled down the beach while shimmers of light caught the waves, a hint of a coastline edging in - Pegasus Bay, after the holidays.

Pegasus Bay was named after the ship Pegasus which surveyed part of the South Island in 1809. The first mate gave the bay its name and the captain of the ship lays claim to correcting James Cook's charts by determining that 'Banks Island' was in fact a peninsula.

A sunny day with a chilly 8C start, gradually climbing to approximately 19C. I spent the day with Mum, a chat over a cuppa and lunch before going to get our groceries.

Happy Thursday - its nearly the weekend :)
