Grey mare’s tail

An impromptu family outing. We drive the back road to Traquair, up around St Marys Loch, and to the car park at the Grey Mare’s Tail.

We join the line of people climbing the well maintained path. It’s steep, but we’re a match for it.

At the middle pool, we climb down and take a dip under the cascading waters. It’s beyond refreshing, but shy of completely freezing.

Then, Megan and I head for the Loch Skeen at the top. It sports a classic Scottish-ism: a small island with a tree on it. The rest of the hills are grazed bare throughout Scotland.

Toffee from Moffat and then home for Jackfruit in bbq sauce with Nick.
