Sign of the Takahe

The Sign of the Takahe is a much-loved Christchurch landmark on the Port Hills.

Completed in 1948 (though started in 1918), it was built in the style of an English Manor House, to be used as a rest house for travellers on the Summit Road.

Now a cafe/bar for casual dining, it was busy this morning with visitors who are treated to its beautiful stone interior and stained glass windows.
