The First Step

So Rachelle has a very productive Spanish Red grape vine which features the little round wine grapes. She kindly picked and separated 11 kilos of them for me so I could set about making them into wine. This is the first ferment - about 23 liters - took most of the afternoon what with sanitizing everything and then crushing the grapes - no not with my feet! Actually crushed them with my hands and then boiling water, citric acid, and pectin plus yeast etc and now it looks like nothing is happening as it takes probably 24 - 48 hours before the yeast will actually start working
