La Plagne: Snow and Trees

Another bizarrely mixed day weather-wise: we've had falling snow, very thick cloud, blinks of sunshine, and even some blue sky! The snow on the pistes has been consistently brilliant though: this morning there was a layer of talcum fine powder snow on some of the pistes that offered almost no resistance, but lifted you up slightly making it feel like you were floating. Wonderful...
We skied deep into a very thick cloud on snow like that, so we were then floating in a mist of whiteness which was a very surreal experience; it really felt like flying because the snow was so soft and floaty underfoot/ski, the wind was rushing past, and yet the sounds were all muffled so you felt alone and not in contact with the ground...
Exhilarating!

I took this photo from a chair lift as the sun blinked out from behind a (mostly) thick sheet of cloud: it cast marbled bands of light onto the ground, and highlighted the edges of the dune-like folds of the snow-covered mountain-side. I love all the little evergreens that stand bravely in the snow, and the chair lift ran alongside a little ridge covered in picturesque little clumps of trees. The bright sky and clouds are blown-out in my photo, but I like that it accentuates the way that the light seemed to be spotlighting parts of the ground (and these trees in this instance). It was snowing when I took this, and the falling snow can also be seen as darker spots in the sky, and lighter spots over the ground.
Please do look in large ("L").

p.s. Oh, we saw an adorable crested tit this morning whilst having hot chocolate in a mountain cafe (i.e. when we stopped to defrost our digits): it was fetching crumbs from under the tables outside (empty tables: it was snowing, and about -19C at that stage...), but I was unable to take a photo as a layer of ice had formed over the front of the little camera's lens (fortunately, it wasn't as dramatic as this)!
