La vida de Annie

Hotel Covid.

New Normality day 33.
This block of tourist apartments in the nearby resort of Arenal is referred to by the local press as the Covid Hotel. Another 6 patients with minor symptoms, or asymptomatic but potentially contagious, have just been admitted. Some are tourists and some residents. Meanwhile the beach is filling up and the bars are awash with holidaymakers.
After months of clear skies, today I watched 3 incoming planes fly over, although there were probably more. A helicopter flew directly over the house, very low, and slowly turned and circled. I was totally freaked out, thinking it was police or an air ambulance and that there had been some disaster. The last time helicopters flew over there was a forest fire which was in danger of engulfing the village. In retrospect it was probably tourists enjoying an airbourne excursion, but at the time I felt total panic and was nervous for the rest of the day. There are more cases now on the island than at the time lockdown was declared, but people are swanning around as though it's all over. The whole situation, and all the other horrors around the world, are really getting to me now.
I'm only enumerating the days of the New Normality because I expect at any moment for Lockdown to be reintroduced.
Depressed.
