Thank You For the Days ..

A Long View

The plan to go to the coast, the proper North Sea coast, finally came to fruition today. Though the forecast was discouraging, and our legs were aching from yesterday's ups and downs, we decided that it had to be done, and off we went to St Abbs.

Quite a few folks had the same idea, but it wasn't mobbed, thank goodness. First we had lunch in the garden at the Ebba centre, all very well organised as regards the service. Then we had a stroll around the harbour (extras), plenty to see there. They have been busy during lockdown doing lots of repairs to walls and steps, and the boats are still fishing. One or two dive boats were out as well.

Then we girded our loins and set off up the path to the cliffs. It's actually a very easy walk on a tarred road, closed to traffic at the moment. Again loads to see, lots of sheep, mainly tups, looking tired. And a couple of very large charolais bulls, luckily behind a sturdy fence. F

We didn't go all the way up to the lighthouse, that's for our next trip. We stopped at the track down to the little cove where you look down to the remains of a tiny harbour. Plenty of seabirds, and a distant view of Fast Castle, looking tiny on the promontory on the left. Another place to revisit soon.  On the horizon, you can just see the Bass Rock (specially for Monkus!)

We finished up at Gallery4, which is cunningly positioned right next to the car park, and came out with a tiny souvenir of the day, which will no doubt be blipped soon. It will remind us of our first proper day out in five months.
