Creatures of the sea

Assynt gifted us with a beautiful day. Achmelvich for swimming, oocha...much F words were expelled through clenched teeth when at first the water hit our sensitive bits, but once you're in, it's grand. Rockpooling in the world's best rockpool...it never disappoints, beautiful dragon like sea slugs, hermit crabs, crabs, fishies, all sorts, but no international crowd to ooh and ahhh at Sam and Tess's bucket finds and returns (always return them to the sea) this year, the virus has meant it was more of a UK crowd and all socially distancing to the extreme (good).

We never saw poor behaviour in action but the bins were bursting and the roads were far busier this year...scarily busy. Ive read the woeful tales and anger inducing pictures of what a minority of irresponsible wild campers and motor home owners have left behind...waste, litter, fire damage, poo, chemical toilets! They are the minority but they spoil it for us all and the poor locals are rightly up in arms.

The locals were, as ever, warmly welcoming and we gladly spent our money. We warmed up after the beach with some sitooterie lentil soup from the local beach shack at Achmelvich then after a wee beach walk back at the house, it was off to Kylesku for dinner...Tess had her favourite. Here's a pic of happy Tess and pink sea monster called Dave changing out of his wetsuit.
