Plum and Almond Sponge Cake

Before it started to rain, I raced round my garden picking flowers and the last of the plums.  To my surprise I got another 6kg, so I've given some to a friend, frozen some, stewed some, and made the most delicious Plum and Almond Sponge Cake.
