Damselfly

A leisurely start after buying some goat’s cheese from the farm where we were staying. We had a walk along the River Doubs and when we stopped for a swim I spotted some damselflies on the plants at the side of the river. We were mesmerised by the variety of colours and detail of their wings. (See extra)

Tonight we are at a snail farm. The owner gave us a tour and explained how she farms the snails. Fascinating to listen to. I’d never really considered where the snails in restaurants come from.

The farms we are staying at are part of France Passion, an organisation for people with self contained camping cars (ie a toilet!). For €30 a year you get a ‘book of invitations’ that allows you to stay free in over 2000 farms, vineyards etc across France with room for 1-2 campervans . Each place usually has produce for sale but there is no pressure to buy but we always do. It can be anything from eggs, walnuts, sausages, wine, cider......at very low prices. We love staying at these places as we get to meet some very interesting people and always learn something new.
