Thank goodness for webinars

Six months ago we thought that by now we would be coming out on the other side of Covid. Instead, the second wave in Victoria is causing great concern, and we are watching anxiously to see if NSW and the other states can avoid a similar disaster.
 
Lunchtime webinars have helped keep us sane through Covid and given our little grey cells other topics to work on.
 
Today a really interesting discussion about the research methodology of political polling. All the major polls got it wrong in predicting the result of the federal election last year. The webinar was about how the pollsters have reacted to that failure, and the new techniques they are introducing.
 
And if that sounds heavy, the speakers are mostly broadcasting from home, and that lends an engagingly informal tone. It’s fun to see their kitchens and their pictures, and sometimes their cats and dogs!
