Early Morning Safari

Well, here he is, my big beautiful skunk! I had the great good fortune to be able to watch this guy for about 15 minutes this morning. He determinedly cut through our yard to get to the neighbor's lawn next door, and busily snarfled around in their grass, presumably sucking up bugs. Definitely aerating the lawn with his little snout. I was out on our second-story deck looking down, and he was very aware of me and my loudly clicking camera. Most of the time when his snout went down, his tail went up as if to be ready in case someone snuck up on him. It was wonderful watching this creature for such a long time, and then he was off in his loping waddle, back under the fence til tomorrow.
