Kindling

Cedar and axe. The miracle of fire in a wood stove on a cool day at the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Aware that we are on stolen land inhabited for millennia by peoples who used the fragrant Cedar for innumerable purposes, whose shell mounds exposed on eroded cliffs at the edge of the sea remind us to honor their suffering and loss.
