Thank You For the Days ..

Seaside Postcards

We had to go to town for the annual service of the central heating system at the flat. I'm pleased to say it passed with flying colours.  Not that extra heat was needed today ...

The engineer was done by midday, which meant we could spend the afternoon by the river.

So here are some shots of Edinburgh's riviera ...

I'm reminded of Billy Connolly's line that the Scots'  normal skin colour is blue, and it takes a week of sunshine to turn us white. It's been my experience that a few hours exposure turns me bright red ...

There was no danger of burning today. Although it was a perfectly pleasant 20 or so degrees, the light could best be described as 'pearly'.  But folks were out making the most of it. The shots make me think of the kind of cards we'd send home to our relatives from our staycations in the 1950s.
Twenty miles down the coast was regarded as the norm.

If it was all families and social distancing at Silverknowes, it was a different story as we set off  via Portobello (and the Greek patisserie). Every teenager in North Edinburgh seemed to be making their way home from the beach, hundreds of them. All very well behaved, and no aggro between them and the fairly strong police presence, as far as we could see ... likewise no social distancing, and some fairly scanty swimwear ....

Enough excitement for one day, home now, and it's Friday, so a glass or two of chilled white. Still have my baklava, it may have to wait till tomorrow :-)

These shots look better in large!
