Today was a heatwave like the rest of the UK, 30 degrees roughly. We worked all day enduring the heart then had great plans to go round to my friend’s and all be in the garden with our other friends too, having drinks and going in this adult sized paddling pool they have to cool down. The hour came and a massive storm arrived, it poured down with rain and we had to call it off! Very sad I was very hyped for the paddling pool.

So instead we waited it out a couple of hours then went to our local pub who have semi permanent awning things in their beer garden in case of another downpour! Sadly our friends live in a different part of town so was just us. Post lockdown the council initially denied the pub permission to put up their marquee (which is only a glorified gazebo without walls), in their beer garden and a local campaign in the paper was run before the council saw sense. It was our first time back but they had a very good system of taking your order so we felt ok about it. The downpour does mean that hopefully we’ll get to sleep with the new cool air though so that’s another positive.
