Birnham Hill

Not a Munro this Friday but a very lovely view and pleasant walk through ancient woodland instead. Just Ben this week and parked up at the Birnham Arts Centre and walked through the Beatrix Potter gardens to the start of the walk. Lovely to be walking in the cool of the trees.

There was a little fairy pool half way up for a fool for Breagha and Ben. Ben was also interested in a little history of Macbeth from Paps.

The descent was a little boggy in bits after the whole day of rain in the Thursday but nothing too sinkable!

We decided, wrongly, as it turned out to drive over the bridge to Dunkeld. Mobbed!!! We were here in November when it was peaceful and plenty parking. Today was heaving with holidaymakers.

Our next plan was to veer off the A9 to Stewart Tower Dairy Farm for ice cream and food. Much better. I had their stovies (best I’ve tasted) Ben had a bacon roll which he said was 10 out of 10 and Paps had a sandwich then they had the delicious ice cream made on the farm. We sat on their picnic benches and watched the crazy baby goats leaping around the field opposite.

Dropped Ben off and then we did some clearing up of our massive space at the bottom of the garden. What do we do with it is the next question!
